Do tonsil stones come from allergies?
Yes! Tonsil stones do come from allergies also. People suffer with different types of allergies. The allergies differ from person to person depending on the body type and their strength of the immune system. When an individual suffers from an allergy, there is possibility that the increasing allergen particles attack the lymphoid tissue of the tonsils. This attack could ultimately stress and load on the lymphatic system which could lead to poor excretion of the allergen particles. This in term forms the tonsil stones. Other than this common reason of the occurrence of tonsil stones, there is yet another reason found out by the experts.
As per the studies, the mucus produced by allergens is the major and common cause for the formation of tonsil stones. The bacteria or the allergies generating germs pass through the nostrils or mouth. When allergens enter the body through nostrils, they irritate the mucus membrane that lines the nasal cavities. This in turn leads to extensive discharge of mucus into the nasal cavities which pass through the throat leading to a perennial drip on the posterior wall of the throat. When this happens, the immune system of the body, which is meant to protect the body from allergies and all, fails to produce the mucus and which in turn leads to the formation of tonsil stones.
Though allergy can be a reason for the tonsil stones cause, there are many other effective causes for tonsil stones. If they are small, they can be treated right from the home, but if they are large they need to be treated by a professional.
